The weather outside is frightful 
But the cat is so delightful 
The mousies all have gone stone cold

There once was a cat named Joe
Who loved to chase the mice below
He waited for them to come out
And pounced on them without a doubt
But one day he met his match
A mouse who was clever and fast
He dodged and darted through the snow
And made the cat look very slow
The cat was angry and confused
He felt like he had been abused
He tried to catch the mouse again
But every time he failed in vain
The mouse was happy and amused
She felt like she had nothing to lose
She taunted and teased the cat so much
And always stayed out of his touch
The cat and mouse became a pair
They played and fought with equal flair
They learned to respect each other’s skill
And still enjoyed the chase’s thrill
