The Makerspace is Moving!
After a lot of careful planning and hard work we’re excited to announce that the Surrey & Hampshire Makerspace will very shortly be moving to a new location in Badshot Lea.
We’ve made the difficult decision to move the makerspace for a number of reasons: our current rent in central Guildford is higher than we can sustainably afford, and importantly the new space will give us extra room to have more members and provide a greater variety of tools, equipment and events.
A rough timeline of the move:
29th May – Inner area of the new Makerspace ready to move essential equipment in to.
4th June – Everything moved out of the old space that’s going.
14th June – Old space totally empty and “made good”.
Work on the new makerspace will certainly need to carry on for some time after we’ve moved, but this is the timeline we’re committed to.
We’d like to thank our current hosts at the Boileroom for renting us a creative corner of Guildford for all these years, and everyone who’s visited us here – we hope you’ll come to see us in Badshot Lea once we’re settled in!
We’d also like to thank our members, and their friends and family for their understanding and help with the makerspace and our imminent move.
The Grand Opening
There’ll also be an official opening celebration to look forward to (date to be announced in the future).
Keep an eye on our forum or social media for an announcement about it and future open sessions once we’ve settled in!
