Some of you may have noticed the laser cutter had acquired an intermittent stutter when homing.
After a crack diagnostic team had been put together the problem was traced to faulty Y axis end stop sensor connection which had been subject to fatigue and failed.
Many thanks to @florian and @AndrewPatience who replaced the connection and as a bonus installed a shiny new secondary targeting “laser”!
