Hi everyone, I am wanting to get involved with some woodwork as I enjoyed it at school but never continued with it. I see you’ve already got some new members coming this evening so if it’s okay I will also come along this evening to introduce myself and have a look around.
Hi, I’m Ian, long time fan of open source and maker spaces, and have been going to hacker camps since the first CCC in 1999. Was a member of the original London Hackspace and for a long time ran a free weekly unix workshop in Limehouse & Shoreditch. After 30 years away I’ve moved back to Aldershot and am interested in experimenting with ways to manifest my digital artwork (music, photography, video, design) in the physical world. Particularly interested in laser cutting card or plastic to make sculptures. Wednesday evenings are often difficult for me as it clashes with other events but have been meaning to come down for a long time, so have finally gotten around to saying hi. Would love a link to the whatsapp group.
Sorry it has taken some time to get back to you, we’d love to see what you’ve been creating. If Wednesday doesn’t fit your schedule, members often gather on a Sunday evening around 7pm if that suits better.
I’ll get a link to the WhatsApp group to you in due course.
Hi, I’m Emma.
I’m a leatherworker and hobbyist woodworker, I’m primarily interested in exploring laser engraving and cutting veg tan leather for a few projects I have in the pipeline.
Unfortunately due to caring responsibilities I cannot attend during evenings (I note your open evenings on Wednesdays from 7pm) would it be possible to arrange a look around the space during the day (09:00-17:00)?
Regards
Emma
Hello! I’m Dan, working in Farnborough and based in Woking. I used to run a an armoury workshop for a theatre in central london, but it’s been a long time since I’ve just enjoyed making for myself! Would love to boost my skills in larger woodwork/cabinetry, remind myself of thinking with panel saws/table saws, and get some skills in electronics and laser cutting if possible as well.
I’d be more than happy to share any skills I have from my past work life of ten years as an entertainment armourer/workshop manager as well; if that niche world of hacked together silver soldering, bits of saddlery techniques, hand-tapping tangs, hidden reservoirs of fake blood, and making things shiny would be of use to anybody? A very analogue version of the word “hack”…
Is there a likely to be anyone there on the 20th? I won’t be able to come tomorrow, bi-weekly D&D calls!
Hi, I am Harry and was wondering if I would be able to join the Makerspace, but I am only 15 and was wondering if you would let someone under 18 join? Would I be able to go on the open day (on wednesday) to see if the maker space and hopefully join?
