For any new and prospective members or anyone who is curious about the space, we would recommend starting here. We’d suggest doing the following:
Introduce yourself here on the forum (in this post or a new topic). What are you interested in, what projects are you working on, is there anything in particular you need help with or any equipment you need access to?
Check in with me or @matthewfelgate via a private message to get a link to our WhatsApp group, this is great for live updates.
Visit us on an Open Day! Every Wednesday from 7pm onwards at our space in Badshot Lea. It’s worth checking here on the forum or on WhatsApp that there will be someone there to let you in.
Look around the space and chat to our friendly members to see if it’s right for you. If you’re unsure, feel free to keep visiting us on open days.
If you’re ready to become a member, one of our directors will help you get set up (usually an in-person process). Membership is £25 a month which gives you access to the space and all the training you might need on our equipment.
I’ve messaged on the discord group as well as attempted to join the WhatsApp group. I just want some information on the accessibility of the building before I get too invested with the idea as I’m in a wheelchair

Hello! I am Vesna and was wondering if I could come next Wednesday to the Open Day (16th) to see the space. I am interested in Woodworking and have couple of projects I would like to work on. I would need some woodworking tools such as chisels, hand plane, impact driver and similar. Thanks
I’m interested in joining your MakerSpace, I moved to the area just over a year ago and I’ve been a member of a MakerSpace previously in London so I know how great they are!
I’ve got some laser cutting I’d like to get done in the short term for a gift I am making but after that I’d love to get involved in the space and contribute.
I cannot make the open evening this Wednesday as I am away but would love to meet up as soon as possible and join.
I’ve used a Trotec laser cutter a lot before but not sure of your setup and obviousy I’d need to do your inductions but maybe initially someone with experience of your laser cutter could help me with my firs job?

The Whatsapp invite link is only a couple of posts up - let me know if you have any trouble with it but I believe all you do is click it and you’re invited.
We’ve had a lot of spam recently so you won’t normally get in immediately but I’ll keep an eye out
I believe our new super-duper laser cutter will be online this weekend, so good timing for sure.
The best thing to do is to get on the Whatsapp group and try to find a Wednesday to pop along to when someone is around. Always worth checking if and when someone will be there

I will definitely come along for an open evening but also if you have your laser cutter running this weekend I’d love to come along as I have a gift I am making for a birthday on 27th so would be great if we could try cutting it this weekend if possible or at least a few days before 27th so I can complete the project in time for the birthday.
I’ll be doing much more at the space over time when I join but I was hoping I could get going in this quite quickly as I’ve done loads of laser cutting on a Trotec before at my previous MakerSpace so could also maybe help if possible?
Hi @Jagmills@matthewfelgate and everyone, I’m Tintin. I’ve also requested to join the WhatsApp group as I see that this Forum isn’t frequently attended anymore. I’m interested in many making technologies, usually for art projects.
My need is quite time-sensitive. Long story short, I need access to a large laser cutter for cutting paper nylon-type fabric, in a prototyping stage for an artwork. I’ve laser cut a large amount of paper nylon for another work before (in Gothenburg, Sweden) and it was safe. This time it’s for an artwork that needs to be shipped by the last week of September, which I recently had to make urgent changes for.
I’m usually based in Gothenburg, and live partly here in the area. I’ve been a member of makerspaces and fablabs elsewhere before, and keen to see whether I can do my prototyping in SHMakerspace this time. If anyone’s around before or at next Wed’s open day (before or on 3 Sep 2025) I’d be grateful if I can visit.
My name is Byron I’m a prop maker that lives in a tiny flat in Sandhurst. Looking for a space to be productive, expand my skills and also be surrounded by like minded creative individuals.I already have a few years of workshop experience so I understand health and safety requirements and know the basics.
I’m curious about the model lathe and looking to make a model lightsaber for myself as it’s possibly a good beginners project.i requested to join the WhatsApp group and I will try attending the open evening on Wednesday so we can meet.
My son is currently doing a T-Level in Engineering having done a GCSE in Design Technology, and we both love the practical side of building stuff. We’ve got a 3D printer that we use regularly, but would love to have access to other kit that we can use for building projects, and maybe to get involved in group projects.
Unfortunately Wednesday at 7pm isn’t a great time for us, so I’ll reach out for a WhatsApp invite and see if there’s other times we could come along and say hi.
Hello @matthewfelgate and community. I am wanting to become a member with my young son, if it is OK I’ll come by this evening (Wednesday 28 Jan 2026) are you open this evening? I am interested in building garden projects (a compost bin, a bird house, a hedgehog house) for now.
